"Ooooooo!!! Those are fighting words!!!!"
I'm sure we've all heard that saying before. Specifically, I remember hearing them quite frequently in school, on the playground, whenever kids were trying to instigate a fight between two of their peers. Now, when I hear them, I think of something completely different. I think of a battle; a spiritual battle. One that we cannot see with our own eyes. Even the bible states that there's spiritual warfare going on, whether we see it or not. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
The day I announced my pregnancy and took joy in the Lord for His blessing, my home became under attack... almost instantly. But you see, the enemy... he doesn't like to play fair. He never has, and he never will. Instead of attacking me personally, my children were placed under attack. My littles stay relatively healthy throughout the year, with the exception of a sniffle or a cough here and there from seasonal allergies. However, the day after I announced my pregnancy, Zophie became ill and stayed ill for a couple of days. Now that she is in recovery, Zayne's body has taken up an illness.
And I know, I know. Some may say "ohhh Rosey... it's not an attack. It's just a tummy bug." Tummy bug or not, Jesus took illness, disease, famine and any attacks on the body to the cross with Him when He was crucified at Calvary and resurrected. Does this mean we should be healthy 100% of the time without ever having any sickness attacking us? Absolutely not. We live in a world that is FULL of sickness, viruses, diseases, etc. But, God equipped us with what we need to become healed and whole again through Him and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Now, am I one of those who is saying to pray everything out and never take medication? No - in fact, I'm not recommending that one way or the other, however, I am recommending you PRAY and then LISTEN. Seek the Holy Spirit's guidance! If He leads you to medication or a doctor, then listen. If He leads you to take communion or fast, then listen. I cannot tell you what the Holy Spirit speaks to you.. only you can know that through prayer and listening. But I can share with you what God has led me to do in our home.
I use my fighting words. You see, whenever the enemy comes at me with an attack, I'm not quite as angry... in fact, I anticipate it coming more often than not because I know what works God is doing in my life. But when he comes after my children? Oh.. momma bear comes out swinging. I start with prayer and then I attack the enemy back with my fighting words. In the words of Pastor Jason Anderson at Living Word Bible Church; "God has already created a battle plan that works! He's the MASTER at creating a war strategy that is PROVEN to work. So why not use it!?" That battle plan is the bible. Scripture to be exact. The words of God!
I pray out for guidance from the Holy Spirit and then I take action. I immediately begin to speak life back into whatever the situation is. I proclaim provision in the name of Jesus because He has promised it! For every battle we face, every problem, there IS provision. Receive it! Yesterday, I thought we were out of the woods with the littles. Zophie had gone all day without throwing up and Zayne was showing no signs of illness. However, at 11PM last night, I awoke to a knock on my door and Zayne was now throwing up with a fever.
I cleaned him up, comforted him and immediately began to speak life over him. Proclaiming that he is already healed in Jesus. I put some Peppermint Oil on his spine to bring down the fever, Oregano & Frankincense on his foot bottoms to draw out the sickness and I cuddled up with him on the couch until he fell back to sleep and now, I'm hitting scriptures and speaking the words of God over our home as I tossed the soiled sheet and blankets into the washing machine and sanitized his bed with OnGuard homemade spray.
You see, I have a battle plan. A plan that works for my family because I've followed the Holy Spirit's guidance. Battle plans for each family will look different. For some, it's going for the Tylenol or doctor's visits. For some, it's a cool bath with rag compression. Whatever your battle plan is, I'm not encouraging you to go against it! But, I am encouraging you to add some fighting words in there. Take back what the enemy is trying to steal away. It isn't his!
While you may not understand it, speak life over your situation while enforcing your battle plan. You will be amazed at how much joy and comfort you can bring into a dark situation just by using your fighting words; the word of God!
Here are a few of my favorite fighting words (scriptures) that I love to speak over my home whenever there are attacks from the enemy:
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
Put your battle plan to work and attack with fighting words. God has already done the work for you... just trust in Him and allow Him to do the rest!
